RetraitExpat
A CFE health insurance offer reserved for retirees drawing a French pension who reside abroad, covering only care received outside France.
RetraitExpat Santé is aimed at retirees with no professional activity, drawing a pension from the French base scheme, who reside abroad. Membership covers the main member, their minor children, and, where applicable, their spouse if also retired. Unlike MondExpat or JeunExpat, this offer only covers care received outside France: stays in France fall under a separate offer.
The current commercial name is “RetraitExpat Santé”: this is the name used consistently in the CFE membership guide (May 2026) and in the contribution schedule. Only the URL of the offer’s presentation page has kept the former name “SeniorExpat,” a leftover that was not updated when the offer was renamed.
To join, an applicant must have no professional activity, be retired and drawing a pension from the French base scheme, and meet one of these conditions: have contributed to the French base scheme for at least 15 years, or reside in an EU country, the EEA, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, or a country covered by a specific agreement (including Morocco and Tunisia), or have contributed for at least 10 years and already benefited from coverage in France before 1 July 2019.

A retired civil servant living in Portugal, who receives only their French pension and no longer works, can join RetraitExpat Santé to cover care received locally.
